DD Therapy

What is DD Therapy?
DDT is the abbreviation for Internal Disc Decompression Therapy or Intervertebral Differential Dynamic therapy. The latest medical device, known as the Accu-Spina system, has sophisticated automatic electronic components to provide different level of mobilization and manipulation to develop strength and endurance, range of motion as a result of back pain. It also relieves pain effectively.
How does it work?
The SPINA System provides a passive exercise component and can move the patient in different body positions. It utilizes three separate waveforms: sinusoidal, triangular or square. It also produces a unique secondary waveform called oscillation. It is intended to allow for highly specific mobilization or distraction of the targeted spinal segment to improve functional performance and to provide neuromuscular reeducation. It can mobilize facet joints, relieve pressure on a nerve, promote the influx of oxygen, blood flow, and nutrients into the affected area; therefore promote the healing. It can also prevent accommodation, guarding and muscle spasming.
What conditions can be treated with DD Therapy?
DD Therapy has been extremely effective in treating bulging, protruding, or herniated discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, posterior facet syndrome. The system allows treatment for both acute, or chronic neck and low back pain.
What results can patients expect?
Many patients with lower back syndromes may experience pain relief as early as the third treatment session. Comparison of pre-treatment MRI’s with post-treatment (DDTherapy regiment for 4 weeks) MRI’s has shown a 50% reduction in the size and extent of herniation. In clinical studies, 86% of patients reported relief of back pain with the ACCU-Spina system. Within the past five years, clinicians have reported success rates as high as 90%. Studies have proven that relief continued long after treatment ended.

What time commitments are required by DD Therapy patients?
Each physical therapy treatment session averages 25-30 minutes in duration on the System. This is incorporated with othe physical therapy modalities.
The patients are kept in the clinic for about one hour or longer with 15 minute pre-treatment phase for far-infrared therapy and post-treatment phase for ice/cool therapy. On average, a total of 20 treatments in necessary for patient self-healing to occur.
Are there contraindications for DD Therapy?
There are contraindications for DD Therapy provided by the manufacturer. The patients will be elevuated carefully according to the protocol. Necessary tests will be ordered to aide in this process.
Is DDT easy to tolerate?
DDT is not only painless, but is comfortable and relaxing as well. The machines are state-of-the-art medical devices. With regard to engineering and design, paramount attention has been given to ergonomics and functionality.
Will the insurance cover for the treatments?
The treatments are usually covered by the insurance company under various standard physical therapy modality codes. It may vary depending on the insurance plan as far as the number of sessions, the maximum allowed reimbursement per calendar year. Many insurers welcome the cost savings of rehabilitation over surgery. Easy credit plans are available for uninsured pain suffers.
Today’s medical knowledge: What is the best approach to chronic back pain?
Many people have experienced failed, painful back surgery. Many patients, desperate for relief, think that there is only one option: surgery. The fact of the matter is, no one really knows what is causing the pain, and new, non-surgical treatments are proving to be more successful than an invasive approach. DDT treatment has proven to be highly successful with an up to 86% success rate. The success rate of surgery is around 50%. Back pain sufferers will no longer have to experience the pain and agony of “going under the knife” only to find a long road of painful rehabilitation ahead of them. No longer will patients feel pressure to have surgery, only to find themselves in more pain. Now, there is a better and proven option: DDT treatment.
Accu-SPINA
This precise, gentle, computer-controlled treatment promotes the natural healing of degenerative discs stimulating the hydration and renewal of damaged tissue. During therapy, the vertebrae are distracted, unloading intra-discal pressures. Secondary waveforms target the muscles surrounding the injured site, gradually re-educating and releasing spasmodic behavior. As normal spinal function is restored, so are mobility and relief.
